MK Party MPLs clashed with police and punches were thrown during the no confidence motion against KZN Premier Thami Ntuli.

An ambulance took one MPL away.

MKP MPL Siphiwe Mbatha said the MPL who was injured is a representative of uMkhonto weSizwe Party.

Mbatha blamed the injury on the decision to allow the SAPS into the legislature.

"She was hit by the police who were sent in by the Speaker of the Legislature. The Speaker of the Legislature sent the police inside the chamber," he said.

KZN Speaker Nontembeko Boyce shared that she was threatened, "a few manhandled me, I am fine though, I was assisted by certain members."

"They were saying to me; I must leave through the back door and at that point in time, I did not understand why I should leave [through the back door] and saying certain things that I can't say with my own mouth."

"But after the intervention, I moved, I proceeded and the attack was then directed to the secretary of the legislature."

Mbatha said of the MPLs' conduct, "there is no other methodology of fighting anarchy. You fight anarchy with anarchy."

Boyce said of the violence, "they wanted to bring violence - one member from MKP said to me if we allow police inside, there will be violence in the house."

"I had to think about the people in the gallery. If we went ahead and brought in SAPS that we rightly have a right to call inside, what would have happened when we have members like that?"

The speaker said, "I need to go home and reflect," when asked if there would be further consequences for the chaos in the legislature.
