PRETORIA - The City of Tshwane has temporarily closed the Station Square Licensing Centre in Akasia following developments in ongoing litigation involving the premises.
In a statement, Mayoral Committee Member for Roads and Transport Tlangi Mogale said the decision was prompted by the legal developments.
The closure, which took effect on Monday, affects several services, including motor vehicle registration and licensing, licence renewals, driving licence card renewals and learner’s licence testing.
The City is renovating the Tshiamo Centre in Pretoria North to permanently accommodate the affected services.

The renovations are expected to be completed by the end of November 2026. The City will then finalise the necessary operational and regulatory requirements before the facility can open.
In the meantime, residents who usually use the Station Square Licensing Centre have been advised to visit other operational City of Tshwane licensing centres.
“Our priority is to establish the replacement service at Tshiamo Centre as quickly as possible while ensuring that it meets all regulatory and operational requirements,” Mogale said.
