ANC candidate list dispute heads to ConCourt

JOHANNESBURG - The ANC’s candidate-list dispute is set to be heard in the Constitutional Court on Monday.

The party is challenging an Electoral Court ruling in favour of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).

The dispute follows the ANC’s failure to submit all its candidates’ names before the deadline for next month’s local government elections, resulting in the exclusion of 181 candidates.

The ANC blamed technical glitches in the IEC’s online nomination system for the late submissions.

However, the Electoral Court ruled against the party, while the IEC maintained that no technical glitches had been reported.
