ANC, DA trade blows online ahead of local govt elections

JOHANNESBURG - A political spat is escalating online between the African National Congress and the Democratic Alliance.

The two parties have been trading blows over service delivery ahead of the local government elections.

DA Joburg mayoral candidate Helen Zille has been spotlighting Johannesburg’s crumbling infrastructure.

She went as far as swimming in water-filled potholes, even rowing a small boat in one to make her point.

The ANC has now hit back.

Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has shared footage of flooding in Du Noon, Cape Town.

Mbalula is criticising the DA-led city’s response and suggesting it may not react with the same visibility seen in Johannesburg.
