ANC NWC to discuss way forward for Gauteng, KZN provincial task teams

JOHANNESBURG - The ANC National Working Committee (NWC) will meet on Monday to likely review decisions made in panic in 2024.

These include whether provincial task teams leading Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal are fit for purpose.

The Sunday Times reports that a section of the ANC's national executive committee wants Jeff Radebe removed as the KZN task team convenor.

Mike Mabuyakhulu is touted as his possible replacement. The ANC is concerned about the failure by both the KZN and Gauteng task teams to convene provincial conferences by the 31 March deadline.

The elected leadership of these two provinces were disbanded after a dismal showing at the 2024 national and provincial elections.

Almost two years later, Gauteng and KZN remain without elected structures to lead their local government elections campaigns.
