JOHANNESBURG - With fewer than 100 days to local elections, the ANC is set to unveil the candidates it hopes will keep control of the country’s biggest metros.
Reverend Frank Chikane has emerged as the front-runner for Johannesburg’s mayoral candidacy, with contenders for Tshwane and Ekurhuleni also being finalised.
This marks a shift from ANC tradition, as candidates are being announced before the election to strengthen the party’s campaign against its rivals.
These include the DA’s Helen Zille, ActionSA’s Herman Mashaba, and Rise Mzansi’s Lukhona Mnguni.
