ANC's election push begins

JOHANNESBURG - The ANC National Executive Committee is expected to meet on Friday to adopt its local government election manifesto.

Less than three months before the 4 November municipal polls, the party is yet to announce its mayoral candidates.

It is the first time the ANC finds itself in a situation that appears uncertain before elections. But the party says it's on track with its elections programme.

It promises its manifesto will be an outcome of a broad-based and inclusive process.

Party President Cyril Ramaphosa says it has done things differently this time around, choosing to listen to different sectors of society before finalising its manifesto.
