JOHANNESBURG - The South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) says taxis will operate normally on Tuesday despite expected widespread protests.
Motlhabane Tsebe, Santaco president said: "Our responsibility is to ensure that every person using public transport tomorrow [Tuesday], whether travelling to work, hospital, to school, to a funeral, to visit a family or even to go to a march or any other lawful purpose can access our transport safely so."
"Tomorrow [Tuesday] taxi services will operate across the country," Tsebe added.

While police, including other law enforcement agencies, have undertaken extensive planning to ensure a safe and secure protest, motorists have been cautioned about various routes that will be affected on the day.
In the City of Tshwane, the Tshwane Metro Police confirmed streets that will be affected by the march, which is set to commence at 10am.
According to the metro police, marchers will gather at Church Square in Pretoria Central and proceed to Sunnyside.

According to the Tshwane Metro Police, there will be alternative routes available.
