JOHANNESBURG – Mpumalanga taxi boss Bafana Oupa Sindane has filed an urgent application in the Gauteng High Court seeking to interdict his testimony before the Madlanga Commission.
Sindane was expected to testify before the Commission on Wednesday. His lawyer has confirmed that the urgent application has been filed.
Sindane is also challenging the manner in which his electronic devices were handed over to the Commission’s Recommendations Task Team. His legal team also said he is medically unfit to take the stand.

His testimony was expected to focus on alleged networks and connections within the taxi industry and would have followed that of his associate and fellow taxi boss, Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni.
Sibanyoni has denied having links to corrupt police officers or hiring hitmen. However, during his testimony, he acknowledged having what he described as brotherly relationships with some police officers.
Sindane and Sibanyoni are also co-accused in an extortion and money-laundering case.
