Ballistics links seized firearm to Saulsville massacre

JOHANNESBURG - Police have confirmed a major breakthrough in their investigation into the Atteridgeville mass shooting that left 12 people dead.

Ballistics tests have positively linked a firearm seized during the arrest of a suspect in Polokwane, to the crime scene.

The suspect was arrested last week during a joint operation by Gauteng and Limpopo police and was found in possession of the firearm and ammunition.

He is appearing in court on firearm charges. 

He's then expected to face multiple counts of murder and attempted murder in Atteridgeville on Wednesday.

A manhunt continues for the two remaining suspects.
