JOHANNESBURG - The recent enactment of the Bela Act has prompted legal action from AfriForum, Solidarity, and the Solidarity Support Centre for Schools.
The organisations claim that President Cyril Ramaphosa ignored crucial recommendations from Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube.
Gwarube recommended that implementation of the Act's language and admissions policy be postponed due to the absence of appropriate norms and standards.

AfriForum, Solidarity and the SCS have sent legal letters to Ramaphosa and Gwarube, stating that signing the promulgation notice was irrational.
The letters give the minister and the president ten days to resolve the dispute.
Failing this, the parties say they will approach the courts.
