BMA expects to process over 6m travellers

JOHANNESBURG - The Border Management Authority is boosting its capacity to manage increased traveller numbers this festive season.

It expects to process over six million travellers at 71 ports of entry.

In the past two days, over 50,000 people crossed the Lebombo Border Post with Mozambique.

The BMA says the numbers are overwhelming, especially with the addition of freight industry demands.

With limited foot soldiers, technology has come in handy.

Many trying to cross illegally have been intercepted by eyes in the sky.

While authorities keep criminal elements out, travellers have mixed experiences of service delivery at the border.

NATJOINTS is expected to visit the Lebombo border on Tuesday.
