Brothel crackdown exposes Pretoria's crime web

PRETORIA - Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya says the City's latest crackdown on inner-city brothels during 16 Days of Activism has exposed a web of crime, from commercial sex work and drug trafficking to undocumented foreign nationals.

Moya says the operation reveals the scale of criminality gripping the capital and underscores the urgent need for tougher law enforcement.

She says that safer-city initiatives are now zeroing in on these hotspots as residents demand visible action.

City officials say the raids have stripped away the façade, revealing a layered underworld of trafficking, drugs, and exploitation, far deeper than many feared.

They've vowed to stay on high alert this festive season, tightening the net as the city’s crime seams unravel.
