Cape Town International Airport resumes normal flight operations

CAPE TOWN - Cape Town International Airport’s main runway has reopened following its closure for several hours on Tuesday.

Airports Company South Africa said the delays were due to a Kenya Airways aircraft that had burst a tyre on landing, forcing the closure.

The plane was left stranded on the runway, which resulted in all in-coming flights being diverted to other airports.

Although flight operations have resumed, some flights may still be delayed.
