Cape Town issues early drought warning as dam levels decline

CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town has issued an early drought caution.

Residents are being urged to save as much water as possible to avoid restrictions.

In 2017, the City of Cape Town successfully averted day zero, and officials are calling on residents to do the same again.

The city's top water managers and experts detailed the situation and what an early drought caution means.

The concern is that if water consumption isn't reduced immediately, dam levels could reach 40 percent by May.
