Mbense was killed at his Brakpan home in April 2022 and his body was later dumped in a dam.
IPID said the five are alleged to have played a role in the murder, the dumping of his body at Spaarwater Dam in Duduza, in Nigel and failing to report a crime.
The matter will be back in court on 13 August.
