JOHANNESBURG - The trial-within-a-trial in the attempted murder case against Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and his co-accused resumes on Monday.
Matlala, his wife and three others face 25 counts linked to alleged botched assassinations.
They allegedly targeted socialite Tebogo Thobejane, taxi boss Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni and music producer DJ Vettys between 2022 and 2024.
The court is determining whether evidence linked to alleged triggerman Musa Kekana is admissible.
Kekana argues that his arrest was unlawful and that proper warrants were not obtained for the evidence seized.
He also claims that law enforcement officers viciously assaulted and suffocated him during his arrest.
