Chauke fitness for office inquiry begins

JOHANNESBURG - The inquiry to determine the fitness of Gauteng prosecutions head, Advocate Andrew Chauke to hold office gets underway on Monday.

The first witness to testify will be National Director of Public Prosecutions, Shamila Batohi.

President Cyril Ramaphosa suspended Chauke as the Gauteng Director of Public Prosecutions in July.

He’s accused of receiving bribes and was named in Bosasa recordings.

Retired Justice Baaitse Nkabinde leads the inquiry, with Advocate Elizabeth Baloyi-Mere and attorney Thenjiwe Vilakazi assisting him.
