JOHANNESBURG - The Chief Justice has responded to the KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Justice Mandisa Maya says Mkhwanazi's claims of collusion between the judiciary and alleged criminals are extremely damaging to public confidence in the independence and integrity of the courts.

She adds the accusations have not been substantiated.
Justice Maya has asked the Provincial Commissioner to provide evidence to support his claims.
On Sunday, President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation on developments following Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi's allegations.
The President announced the briefing on Thursday.
