JOHANNESBURG - City Power halted operations in Alexandra after a technician was violently attacked by a protesting mob.
Residents on Tuesday embarked on a protest over delays in power restoration, barricading roads with stones and burning tyres.
According to City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena, the technician was assaulted inside their Alexandra Service Delivery Centre.

He said the male operator was on his way to respond to a power outage affecting customers along 2nd and 7th Avenue.
"This incident is completely unacceptable and represents a gross violation of the rights and safety of our employees," he said
Mangena condemned this criminal action.
"We demand swift arrests of the perpetrators and urge the South African Police Service (SAPS) to increase their presence around our service delivery centre to prevent further incidents and protect our infrastructure," he said.
