Commuters in Western Cape hit by taxi route closures

CAPE TOWN - Cape Town taxi commuters are looking for alternative transport.

Ten routes will be closed for a month due to escalating violence and concerns over commuter safety.

Warring taxi associations Cata and Codeta failed to reach a peace agreement by Tuesday's deadline.

Mfuleni to Somerset West and Khayelitsha to Somerset are some of the routes in dispute.

Over the past few weeks, six people have been killed and nine injured as a result of the ongoing conflict.
