JOHANNESBURG - Some fuel prices are going up, and others are dropping from Wednesday.
The Mineral and Petroleum Resources Department has announced the official fuel price adjustments for August.
Motorists using both grades of petrol will get some relief, with the price of 93 and 95 octane petrol decreasing by 52 cents a litre.
Diesel users, however, will face a sharp increase diesel will rise by between R1.38 per litre and R1.23 per litre.
The department says the adjustments were driven by higher international diesel prices, a weaker rand against the US dollar, and renewed geopolitical tensions that disrupted global oil markets.
It says the reduction in the slate levy helped cushion petrol prices, limiting what could have been a much larger increase.
The new fuel prices come into effect on Wednesday, 5 August.
