JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Water says it is fully prepared for the final phase of Rand Water’s scheduled maintenance.
It runs from Tuesday to Thursday and will see the Eikenhof pump station closed for 54 hours.
This will affect Roodepoort Deep, Meadowlands, Fleurhof, Doornkop and Braamfischer.
The utility says contingency measures are in place as the system will take up to seven days to recover.
Rand Water spokesperson Makenosi Maroo said the maintenance project is in the third phase.
"The reason why we're doing this maintenance is to upgrade our infrastructure, so we're able to supply water to our customers," she said.
Maroo said infrastructure needs to be upgraded.
"It's important for Rand Water to undertake this project," she said.
Valves are being replaced for the pipeline which are affecting Eikenhof.
"For the last project, we are also working on a reservoir," she said.
