JOHANNESBURG - The Johannesburg Labour Court has dismissed an urgent bid by civil servants union MECSU to halt disciplinary proceedings against suspended Ekurhuleni Deputy Police Chief, Julius Mkhwanazi.
The union argued the municipality had no authority to pursue misconduct charges linked to an early employment contract that ended in 2023.
But the court found that the employment relationship between the parties had continued uninterrupted.

This means the employer retains the right to discipline the employee for alleged misconduct.
