CPUT protests | Calm returns after student accommodation row

CAPE TOWN - Calm has returned to the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CUPT), but the situation remains tense.

Chaos erupted when students clashed with police during protests over accommodation.

Student Representative Council (SRC) member at the institution Ayabulela Mbiza said they are hopeless as they patiently wait to be accommodated. 

He said stranded students now fear of missing out on their studies. 

The spokesperson of CPUT Lauren Kensley said efforts to place students in ongoing. 

She said since Monday at least 600 students have been placed into accommodations.
