Cradock Four inquest | Post-1994 govt did not pursue those responsible

GQEBERHA - Apartheid’s last president FW de Klerk might have gone to the grave without being held accountable for the murders of the Cradock Four.

But his widow recently reached out to their families ahead of the inquest before the Eastern Cape High Court.

The court heard De Klerk was part of State Security Council meetings that resolved to eliminate the four political activists in 1985.

Lukhanyo Calata, the son of Fort Calata, recounted the anguish he’s had to deal with.

The inquest continues on Monday, when Calata is set to be cross-examined by lawyers of the four persons of interest in this inquest.
