Crime Intelligence boss Khumalo cleared to return to work

JOHANNESBURG - SAPS Crime Intelligence boss Lt-Gen Dumisani Khumalo’s bail condition preventing him from returning to his office has been set aside by the Pretoria High Court.

He and two co-accused had appealed Chief Magistrate Vusi Mahlangu’s initial ruling, and the High Court has now found that the restriction was “arbitrary and incorrect.”

The ruling clears the way for Khumalo and his co-accused to return to work.

Khumalo heads SAPS Crime Intelligence.

In November, he testified before the Madlanga Commission, where he disclosed the existence of the so-called “Big Five” criminal cartel, which he said operates primarily in Gauteng.
