JOHANNESBURG – Criminals are now targeting delivery bike riders, with medics reporting several incidents where riders have been killed while on duty.
Eugene Herbert, CEO of driver training organisation MasterDrive, revealed a disturbing tactic used by criminals.
He said they lay a cable across the road and while it may not impact motorists.
When they see a single-headlight vehicle approaching, they pull the wire, causing the driver to fall off their bike.
Herbert condemned the criminals, stating they have no regard for human life.
He also raised concerns about the lack of measures to protect delivery riders.
