JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Police Commissioner Tommy Mthombeni says more police have been deployed to Westbury and other gang-ridden areas following social media posts this week.
Viral posts suggested planned shootings in Westbury, Eldorado Park, Noordgesig and other areas this weekend.
Mthombeni also says an alleged Westbury gang leader was arrested on Thursday.
He was speaking to eNCA during Operation Shanela in the inner city.
"The team is on the ground for the investigation as well as Anti-Gang Unit Visible Policing ranging from Tactical Response Team, Public Order Policing," he said.
