Crime in SA | Mother demands justice for slain son

JOHANNESBURG - A Johannesburg mother is accusing the Independent Police Investigative Directorate of covering up the alleged killing of her son by police.

Amad Morgan was among three people killed in April last year in Chrisville in what police said was a shootout with suspects who had committed violent crimes including over 30 murders.

But Amad’s mother denies her 20-year-old son was a criminal and insists he was wrongly profiled.

Natania Thompson says Amad, who lived in the neighbouring Southdale suburb, was in Chrisville to buy marijuana as usual.

Even as Thompson says she fears for her life, she’s vowed to fight until justice is served for Amad.
