Crime in SA | Reflecting on KZN's bloody year

DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal remains one of the most dangerous provinces to live in.

Police continue to put pressure on criminal networks inside and outside the SAPS.

But is it enough?

Almost 20,000 people who ushered in 2024 didn’t make it past September.

Their lives violently snatched away by murderers.

Between July and September, KwaZulu-Natal had the highest number of multiple murders -- 71 cases and 164 victims.

Task teams and specialised units have been actively pursuing the most-wanted criminals.

In just three months, 42,000 suspects were placed in handcuffs.

Eight police officers also lost their lives this year.
