Cross-border crime | Five SANDF soldiers, two Zimbabweans in court

JOHANNESBURG - Five SANDF members, along with two undocumented Zimbabwean nationals, will appear in the Musina magistrate’s court.

The suspects, aged between 26 and 42, were arrested during a joint operation at Artonvilla near the Limpopo River on Tuesday.

They allegedly conspired to intercept and steal a consignment of illicit cigarettes being smuggled into South Africa.

Authorities discovered 24 cigarette boxes, live ammunition rifle rounds,
and SANDF uniforms in nearby houses.

The group faces charges of corruption, possession of illicit cigarettes,
unlawful discharge of a firearm, and defeating the ends of justice.
