DA appoints Glynnis Breytenbach as chief whip

CAPE TOWN – The Democratic Alliance has appointed Glynnis Breytenbach as the party’s chief whip in the National Assembly.

In a statement, DA Parliamentary Leader Geroge Michalakis said Breytenbach brings 12 years of experience in Parliament and decades before that as senior state prosecutor, to this position.

“She will be the custodian of Parliament’s rules and procedures on the part of the DA. She will also, alongside myself, be the party’s chief negotiator within the GNU in Parliament,” read the statement.

Michalakis previously served as the DA's chief whip, holding the position from June 2024 until he was elected as the DA Parliamentary Leader in April.

Breytenbach has served for her entire tenure in Parliament as the DA’s spokesperson on justice.
