JOHANNESBURG - The deadline for political parties to submit candidate lists for the municipal elections passed on Friday at 5pm.
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) warned it would enforce the deadline strictly and move on to post-nomination processes.

The commission reiterated that no corrections, amendments, or deadline extensions would be allowed.
This week’s major talking point was the ANC’s candidate list, with the party holding a special NEC meeting to finalise it. Internal disputes and legal challenges continue to dog the ANC’s candidate list.
In the Eastern Cape, about 50 branch disputes reportedly remain unresolved.
