GOMA - M23 rebels claim they have taken control of Goma city in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
Goma is home to over a million people, and tens of thousands have fled to nearby towns.
Thirteen foreign soldiers, including nine South Africans, were killed as they tried to halt the advance.
DRC accuses Rwanda of backing the rebel group and has cut diplomatic ties with the country.
Meanwhile, Kenyan President William Ruto, the current chair of the East African Community, is calling on regional leaders to facilitate peace.
