DURBAN - The Durban High Court is set to hear an application seeking to prevent the March and March movement from staging protests in eThekwini.
Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia and KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi have already secured an interim interdict against the planned demonstrations.
Friday’s court proceedings will determine whether the interim order should be made final.

The interdict was granted following threats to burn down a Refugee Reception Centre in Berea. Police also raised concerns over previous violent protests and the death of a foreign national.
However, March and March leaders have accused the government of attempting to silence their movement ahead of the upcoming local government elections.
The organisation has called on its supporters to attend Friday’s court proceedings as the legal battle over its right to protest continues.
