Easter weekend travel | Traffic expected to increase on major routes

JOHANNESBURG - Authorities are out in full force as thousands prepare to leave Gauteng for the Easter weekend.

Officials are hoping to reduce the annual spike in road deaths.

They have issued stern warnings that pedestrians who cross highways will be arrested.

Last Easter, the province accounted for 60 percent of pedestrian deaths.

Law enforcement agencies are also warning against drunk driving, speeding and unroadworthy vehicles.
