EC principals under fire for sticky fingers

MDANTSANE - Non-fee-paying schools are fast becoming a haven for looting by Eastern Cape educators.

At Ulwazi High School, investigations into financial mismanagement continue following the revelation of the principal’s lavish lifestyle.

He remains suspended over allegations of misusing funds meant for the school’s nutrition programme.

But the abuse of school funding doesn’t stop at Ulwazi.

The Eastern Cape Education Department acknowledges that misappropriation of funds is widespread across schools in the province.

Still, it warns that those responsible for diverting money intended to improve pupils' lives should face the full force of the law.
