CAPE TOWN - Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube is appearing before Parliament's National Council of Provinces.
She will provide an update on the state of schools, including water and sanitation issues.
The Minister will outline progress in ongoing efforts to eradicate pit latrines.

Gwarube has set a deadline to eliminate all remaining pit toilets by the end of this month.
Over 3,000 sanitation projects have been delivered under the Sanitation Appropriate for Education initiative.
But, thousands of children across the country still rely on pit toilets.
