JOHANNESBURG - Eight ActionSA councillors in Johannesburg have filed an urgent High Court application to stop the party from replacing them, pending the outcome of a dispute over their contested dismissal.
The matter is set to be heard on Tuesday.
The City of Johannesburg council has 270 seats, with ActionSA securing 44 in the 2021 local elections.

On 29 September, eight ActionSA members, including the Chief Whip and caucus chair, were served with dismissal letters during a council sitting.
The party accuses them of failing to meet membership targets.
ActionSA officials insist all procedures were properly followed.
