DURBAN - A desperate rescue operation is underway in Inanda, north of Durban.
An 18-metre retaining wall collapsed during a church gathering.
At least eight people have been rushed to hospital, two of them critically injured.
Provincial disaster teams are on the scene as the search continues.
Initially, about 20 congregants were trapped beneath soil and rubble.
"We praise the courageous men and women on the front lines who are working tirelessly to save lives. Our prayers are with the injured and the affected families during this difficult time," said KZN COGTA MEC, Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi.
