eNCA MarkData | ANC plummets as MK Party set to be eThekwini's big winner

JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) may have to settle for third place in eThekwini.

eNCA’s analysis of voting data sees the party behind uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) and the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the heart of KwaZulu-Natal.

The MK Party is projected to secure the largest share of the pie in eThekwini at between 34% and 38%.

The DA will follow with 24% to 28%. The ANC is likely to clinch between 15% and 19% of the vote.

eNCA Elections Analyst Wayne Sussman says the MK Party’s performance is significant, but it may not secure the outright majority they hoped for.

“The problem is that they are not going to do as well as they did in 2024; they are falling quite short of that mark in the mid-30s range.

“The Democratic Alliance [on the other hand] are going to be the second largest party in the mid-20s, and a devastating result for the ANC.”
