Family of girl shot in robbery says no help has been offered

THOKOZA - While robbers sped away with large sums from a bombed vehicle, a young girl lay injured on the street with a bullet wound through the chest.

Her family is grappling with the tragic incident, while no one has offered them help.

"We have not gone to the police, and they have not come to us," said Anna Mtshali, the victim's grandmother.

"We have not received any help, not even counselling."

Mtshali said the bullet caused damage to her grandchild's internal organs.

"My grandchild is not OK, she's been crying," she said.

"But the doctor says he'll try to help her."

Police are hot on the heels of the suspects.

The family now pin their hopes on the capable hands of healthcare professionals to help their child heal, and on law enforcement to bring them justice.
