Feroz Khan seeks closed hearing at Madlanga Commission

PRETORIA - Suspended Crime Intelligence deputy head Feroz Khan's legal team has filed an application for in-camera testimony at the Madlanga Commission.

Khan's testimony is said to be of a very sensitive nature and could put his life at risk. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition on Sunday night after he was shot in Houghton.

He was scheduled to testify before the Madlanga Commission on 1 July.

Zubair Khan, his lawyer, said the the top cop was willing to testify provided suitable protection mechanisms are in place.

"Not only for his safety, but for the safety of the intelligence industry as a whole, and also for the identity of informants. It is important that those identities are maintained as confidential and not disclosed for public consumption," Zubair said.
