Financial Ombud returns R60m to consumers

JOHANNESBURG - The National Financial Ombud Scheme recovered more than R60-million for consumers this year.

The majority of refunds were issued in cases related to fraud.

The Ombud is also concerned about reckless borrowing.

The office received various complaints from consumers in different sectors.

Johan Brouwer stated that the majority of complaints related to digital banking and internet fraud.
