Firearm trafficking | Two suspected gunrunners arrested

JOHANNESBURG - Police believe they have cracked the back of a gun-running syndicate.

Two suspects, believed to be linked to firearm trafficking, have been arrested.

The 34 and 45-year-old suspects were arrested in Johannesburg in an intelligence-driven operation.

It involved crime intelligence, the Gauteng Provincial Investigating Unit, JHB K9, JMPD and private security.

The suspects were found with 30 9mm unlicensed firearms.

Police say the weapons were on their way to the Western Cape.

The suspects face multiple charges including illegal possession and trafficking of firearms.

Investigations are continuing and more arrests are expected.
