Flotilla detainees | South Africans to return via Jordan

JOHANNESBURG - Government has confirmed that the South Africans who were detained when Israel intercepted the Global Sumud Flotilla are to be released.

They will be repatriated via Jordan on Tuesday morning.

Among the captives are Mandla Mandela, the grandson of former President Nelson Mandela, writer Zukiswa Wanner and activist Reaaz Moolla.

They were aboard a vessel when it was intercepted in international waters by the Israeli Defence Force last Thursday.

The flotilla had sought to deliver aid in response to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Dirco Minister Ronald Lamola has thanked all parties involved in facilitating the group’s safe return.
