JOHANNESBURG - Former Johannesburg mayor Kabelo Gwamanda is expected back in the Protea magistrate's court on Tuesday.
He faces charges of defrauding several Soweto residents through a suspected Ponzi scheme.
Gwamanda was allegedly operating a funeral scheme through his company Ithemba Lama Afrika.
The state alleges he has been duping victims since at least 2011.
But Gwamanda maintains his innocence, saying this is part of efforts to paint young black leaders as criminals.
