Four arrested in Ekurhuleni takedown

JOHANNESBURG - The Madlanga Commission's Recommendations Task Team has arrested four people during a takedown operation in various parts of Johannesburg.

Police say the suspects include current and former employees of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.

They are expected to appear before the  Boksburg Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Meanwhile, police have also ordered former Ekurhuleni City Manager Imogen Mashazi to present herself at her nearest police station.

The Madlanga Commission has heard that in 2023, IPID formally handed an investigative report to the City of  Ekurhuleni.

The report recommended disciplinary action against suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi for alleged fraud and corruption. Instead, officials allegedly promoted Mkhwanazi.
