PRETORIA - Suspended MP Fadiel Adams could be using his appearance at the Madlanga Commission to boost his political profile ahead of the local government elections, according to political analyst Professor Dirk Kotze.
Kotze believes Adams is deliberately presenting himself as a victim of larger political forces while using the commission as a platform to raise his public profile.
“I think he is using this forum very much and very consciously in order to promote himself,” Kotze said.

“He is presenting himself largely as a victim of bigger political forces around him, as well as some within the police, while at the same time presenting his case as the leader of the National Coloured Congress.
“I think the fact that we are so close to the local government elections means he uses this as a perfect forum to have airtime and be very prominent.
“He knows many people watch the Madlanga Commission in the media, and therefore this is, in a sense, free advertising time for him.
“At the same time, there are many, many questions, so it can boomerang," Kotze added.
On the one hand, he says if Adams comes across as a very ethical and credible witness, it will count in his favour.
"But if he is exposed here, it will boomerang and actually have the opposite effect.”
